Bacteria identification
The detection kit
consists of two major parts; DNA isolation (I) and identification (II) of
microorganisms. With the GENPOINT method, closely related strains can easily be
discriminated, providing high accuracy and high sensitivity. GENPOINT's bacteria
detection kit will be favorable for users who need multiple identification
rather than the single detection tests currently available.
Magnetic sample preparation - DNA isolation
Magnetic particles are coated with a unique surface that absorbs bacteria. By
mixing a sample containing bacteria with magnetic particles, bacteria are
immobilized on the beads. A magnet is then used to pull the bacteria/bead
complex to the side of the tube so that sample solution easily can be removed.
The rest of the procedure involves bacterial lysis and DNA immobilization.

Food pathogen determination - identification
The detection test is relying on a DNA based technology and it allows you to
isolate and detect several strains and species simultaneously. In the detection
process, certain diagnostic DNA-sequences are labelled only in the presence of
DNA from the microorganism of interest, and will generate a positive signal for
identification. The GENPOINT method detects differences down to a single base
pair at a high signal-to-noise ratio.
