This monoclonal antibody reacts with the CD20 antigen, a molecule present on the majority of B cells present in peripheral blood and lymphoid tissue. In lymphoid tissue, germinal center blasts and B immunoblasts are very strongly stained. This antibody has not been shown to react with other hematopoietic cell or non-lymphoid cells (malignant or otherwise). L26 reacts with most B-cell lymphomas, with Reed-Sternberg cells, and only rarely with T-Cell lymphomas.
