Product Name |
MAP2 antibody - Neuronal Marker |
Product type |
Primary antibodies |
Description |
Rabbit polyclonal to MAP2 - Neuronal Marker |
Immunogen |
Cow brain MAP 2 purified from the material that pellets with
GTP polymerized tubulin (see references). |
Cross Reactivity |
Cross-reacts with Cow, Human, Mouse and Rat.
Not yet tested in other species. |
Tested applications |
Western blot, Immunofluorescence |
Application notes |
IF: Use at a dilution of 1/30000.
WB: Use at a dilution of 1/300000. Detects a band of approximately 280 kDa,
corresponding to the high molecular weight MAP2a and MAP2b isoforms. Also
detects 2 bands at approximately 70 kDa, corresponding to MAPc, since the
70kDa bands are transcripts from the same gene and correspond to the
C-terminus of the 280kDa bands.
Not tested in other applications.
Optimal dilutions/concentrations should be determined by the end user. |

Relevance |
Microtubules are 25nm diameter protein rods found in most
kinds of eukarytic cells. They are polymerized from a dimeric subunit made
of one alpha subunit and one beta tubulin subunit. Microtubules are
associated with a family of proteins called microtubule associated proteins,
which includes the protein t and MAP 1, MAP 2, MAP 3, MAP 4 and MAP 5. MAP 2
is found only in neuronal cells and specifically in the perikarya and
dendrites. Antibodies to MAP2 are therefore excellent markers of neuronal
cells and neuronal dendrites. |
