Description:
Low-density lipoprotein receptor-related protein 6 (LRP6) is a
member of the low density lipoprotein receptor (LDLR) family which
consists of cell surface proteins involved in receptor-mediated
endocytosis of specific ligands. LRP6 contains EGF and LDLR repeats in
the extracellular domain and is structurally similar to LRP5, a proposed
candidate gene for type 1 diabetes. |
